  • In today's business environment it is equally important to have effective communications for data as it is for voice. i:BOX embraces efficient voice communication giving full PABX functionality using ISDN or PSTN connectivity which can give DDI (Direct Dialling Inwards) to individuals or to groups within the organisation supported by a feature rich voice mail platform. The i:BOX digital telephone has been the subject of extensive research enabling the advanced and sophisticated feature set to be easily accessible by all users. The i:BOX digital telephones use the same 'user operation' that is familiar to all mobile telephone users - a menu and scrolling up and down keys make accessing the full feature set simplicity itself.

Quick and controlled access to the Internet together with the ability to send text in the form of e-mails to people anywhere in the world at anytime is a necessity for today's businesses. i:BOX connectivity enables the single DSL connection to be shared amongst the staff of the organisation - it can also ensure access is given only to those who are allowed it . The integrated Firewall provides data security from the Internet and also protects bandwidth from inappropriate use. The in-built management programme enables the systems administrator to check on Internet usage and the sites visited.

i:BOX offers an optional wireless LAN interface (802.11B) which has the ability to further streamline business communications and allow mobility within the office environment. The optional Applications server (available Q4 2003) can not only act as an e-mail server, file server and print server it can also be the gateway to enable remotely located 'home workers', using the i:BOX VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) capability.

i:BOX has its own 'soft phone' which can run on a remote PC or laptop enabling the user (with the use of an appropriate headset or handset) to make calls, receive calls and view e-mails and other data applications when connected to a DSL circuit outside the office environment.*

In addition to the user friendly digital telephones, i:BOX supports analogue devices for use in certain applications. These devices can include cordless telephones, fax machines and other simple telephones in environments where access to advanced features is less critical.
